A marriage biodata is a one-page introduction that families exchange when looking for a match. It covers personal details, education and work, family background and contact information. Hindu families usually add horoscope details such as rashi, nakshatra and gotra. It works like a résumé for arranged marriages, and it is often the first thing the other family sees, so a clean, well-arranged biodata makes a good first impression, whether it is forwarded on WhatsApp, emailed to a marriage bureau or handed over as a printed copy.

Biodata formats by community

Every family writes a biodata a little differently. In the Design tab, choose a Religion preset and the header line, symbol and suggested fields change in one click. You can still edit anything afterwards.

Hindu: "|| Shree Ganeshaya Namah ||", Ganesha symbol and full horoscope fields. See the Hindu marriage biodata format.

Biodata for boy and girl

The fields are the same, but the emphasis is slightly different. A bride's biodata is usually softer in design, with a round or arch photo frame, and families read education, profession and family background closely. A groom's biodata tends to be more formal, and families look for the job title, company, city and often an income range. With or without photo

Most families prefer a biodata with a clear, recent photo, and every template has a matching photo frame. Upload a photo, then zoom and move it until your face sits neatly in the frame. If you would rather not share a photo in the first round, simply skip it: the layout closes the gap and the biodata still looks complete. Marathi and Hindi biodata

Many families prefer a biodata in their mother tongue, especially when it goes to grandparents or relatives in the native place. Marathi Biodata Make has complete Marathi and Hindi versions with the labels families actually use, such as रास, नक्षत्र, गण, नाडी, देवक, कुलदैवत and मामा (आजोळ).

You don't need a Devanagari keyboard. Type "deshmukh" in English and it becomes "देशमुख" automatically. You can also switch the digits to Devanagari (१२३) for a fully Marathi or Hindi look.

Horoscope details that fill themselves

If your family matches kundali, the horoscope section saves you a trip to the old janmapatrika. Rashi, nakshatra and gotra come with dropdown lists, so spellings are never a worry. The horoscope section also includes gan, nadi and charan, and they fill themselves: pick your nakshatra and the gan and nadi appear automatically; add your charan (pada) and the rashi is filled too. Auto-fill only fills empty boxes, so anything you typed yourself stays as it is. Want the chart itself? Tap Add birth chart (kundali) to fill the planets house by house from your janmapatrika, and a North Indian style chart is drawn next to your horoscope details. You can also upload a photo of your printed kundali instead.

What to include in a marriage biodata

A good biodata is complete but short. Include your full name, date, time and place of birth, height, education, occupation and income (or a range). Add your parents' names and occupations, siblings, native place and a contact number. If horoscope matching matters to your family, add rashi, nakshatra, gan, nadi, gotra and whether you are manglik. Tips before you share your biodata

Use a clear, recent photo, or none at all, rather than an old or group picture.
Write the exact birth time if the other family matches kundali.
Share a parent's mobile number if you prefer to keep yours private.
Keep it to one page; hide fields that don't apply to you.
Print on A4 paper in colour at 100% scale for printed copies.

Can I make a biodata in Hindi or Marathi?+

Yes. Switch to हिंदी or मराठी from the top menu, or change the biodata language in the Design tab. You can type in English and it will be converted to Devanagari as you type.

Can I make a biodata without a photo?+

Yes. Simply don't upload a photo. Every template adjusts its layout so there is no empty frame, and you can add a photo later whenever you are ready.

Can I edit my biodata after downloading?+

Yes. Your biodata is saved in your browser, so reopen the site on the same device, make changes and download again. You can also download the Word (.docx) file and edit it in MS Word, Google Docs or WPS Office on your phone.

What is the difference between a biodata and a resume?+

A resume is for jobs and focuses on skills and work history. A marriage biodata introduces you and your family: personal details, education and work, family background, horoscope details if relevant, a photo and a contact number, all on one page.

What if I don't know my nakshatra or gotra?+

Ask your parents or elders, or check the janmapatrika made at birth. A family priest or astrologer can work out the nakshatra from your exact birth date, time and place. If it doesn't matter to your family, hide the field and leave it out.

How do I print my biodata?+

Download the PDF and print it on A4 paper in colour at 100% scale. Paper of 100 GSM or more looks and feels better. Any local print or xerox shop can do this for a few rupees.

How do I send my biodata on WhatsApp?+

Tap the WhatsApp button. On a phone, it opens the share sheet with your biodata image attached. On a computer, it downloads the image and opens WhatsApp so you can attach it.
